Through the undulating Lo-Fi tones of the third-wave psychedelic/ garage revivalist movement of the 2010’s, Meatbodies emerged at a time when the neo-psych bands began to lessen the distortion on their reverbs, move out of the wet and windy occupied-by-techie streets of San Francisco, and into the chaotic cross-contaminated burning sun of Los Angeles. Led by vocalist/guitarist and principle songwriter Chad Ubovich. The band has seen a various rotation of line-up changes with Ubovich being the only consistent member. In early 2014, Chad and the group set off to San Francisco to record their first full-length LP at the legendary Bauer Mansion. The rapid-fire, chaotic, punk-influenced sounds of Meatbodies showcased a young and inspired band with song topics centering around partying, touring, breakups, psychedelic discoveries and of course, heavy guitars.
The chaotic, doom-laden, anti-religion, molly-inspired, flowery-Beatles-metal of Alice was met with mixed reviews and the band set out for an impressive 7-month touring schedule. Longtime friend Dylan Fujioka was brought in on drums and after a handful of shows the band finally took a heavy pause to re-collect.
With a brand-new arsenal of songs embodying a darker groove that was missing, but not lost. Inspired by the identity-crisis of the American surrealistic nightmare. Embracing the dark edges, facing the slow and low tones of the new world. Meatbodies continues with a new album in the works and tours to be foreseen for 2019.
