Dougie Poole
New York City, New York
Dougie Poole is a musician and songwriter, currently living in Brooklyn, New York. Coming of age in Providence, RI, he dabbled in heavier and more experimental music before maturing into a country auteur. He writes country songs about his experience (life online, working the gig economy, heartbreak in the digital age) and approaches country as both an experimental art form and a tradition. His 2020 release “The Freelancer’s Blues” (Wharf Cat Records) was reviewed in publications such as Pitchfork, The Fader, and All Music Guide and featured prominently on Best of 2020 year-end lists curated by VICE, Aquarium Drunkard, Brooklyn Vegan, and more. Poole has shared tours nationally with Jerry Paper, Tonstartssbandht, Still Corners and Paul Cherry, and in 2019 he provided guest vocals on the track “Wild Motion” from artist/producer Drugdealer’s critically acclaimed album Raw Honey.
