After much discussion, it’s with a heavy heart that we are postponing the 8th annual Otis Mountain Get Down until 2021.
With the safety of our community in mind, it’s clear to us that this is the responsible decision. We have, as we're sure everyone has, been hoping to return to a “normal” that would allow events like ours to continue by the fall, but has become increasingly evident that it will be some time before that is the case. In a rural area like Elizabethtown, where our event triples the local population drawing folks from all over the country, there is no path forward in which the 2020 festival would support the safety of our local population, patrons, artists, staff, vendors, and partners.
Rest assured, our team is not taking the year off. We are actively working to support our artists, producing new content, and using this time to make 2021 worth the wait.
Our community is at the heart of everything that we do. The important and necessary efforts to stop the spread of COVID-19 have disrupted everything, including the music industry which relies heavily on bringing people together for live events like ours.
This puts the individuals who make their living off of these gatherings in challenging positions, and we're committed to giving them all the support we can. We are paying out a minimum of 50% of all guarantees to artists we’d already confirmed for the now postponed 2020 festival.
We can’t wait to see you on the other side of all this but until then, stay safe, stay healthy, and keep in touch.
