Otis was run as a small community ski hill in Elizabethtown, NY during the early to mid 1990’s.With increasing insurance prices and lack of snowfall the establishment closed in the early 80’s. Fast forward 15 years when Jeff Allott bought the defunct ski hill from Jane Hildebrant.

 

Since then the ski hill has operated on a weekly basis throughout the winter, relying completly on natural snowfall. The 300 ft hill is serviced by an electric powered ropetow, and over the years has developed into a playground serving all abilities of skiers and snowboarders. With glades skiing on either side of the hill, a 25 ft. table jump, and a variety of rails.

Otis was also the home of the Otis Mountain Music Festival from 2003 to 2009. Featuring world renowned bluegrass acts such as Sam Bush, The Infamous String Dusters, and more. There is no festival planned for this year, although it is possible that we will see a resurecction of the beloved festival.
